ABOUT ME
My name is Nina Miller and this year I graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BA in Sociology and a minor and certification in Elementary Education. I am currently getting my Masters in Elementary Education. I love kids, and I have always loved them! I have three little sisters who are everything to me and two parents who I would be nowhere without. While at SMU I received an incredible education, but I was also fortunate enough to find my best friend, my biggest supporter, my fiancé.
My passion for teaching and growing young minds really comes from my youngest sister. I truly believe that the experiences we have in our life shape us into the people we become. I have been so blessed to have such amazing experiences and I have my parents to thank for that. Moving away from the United States at a young age, although I didn't understand at the time, was the best thing my parents could do for my two (at the time) sisters and I. Moving to Sydney, Australia, Shanghai, China and Singapore as well as traveling all around the world gave me insight on different people, ways of life and ultimately unique cultures. Asia is where I found my real passion. Travelling to Cambodia multiple times a year, and working with the non-profit foundation Caring for Cambodia, was where I was really introduced to the prospect of teaching. Cambodia is also where we found the final addition to the Miller Family, Solita my little sister who is now 10 years old. Solita opened my eyes to the possibilities of helping others, especially children, and what better way for me to do that then through teaching and education.
I know I have just started out and I really don't have any experience, but this is just my way of giving back and helping in any way I can. So here are my thoughts, experiences, projects, assignments and more on being a teacher and developing those amazing young minds of today!
